XPRESS IMAGE ART REQUIREMENTS

Good artwork is the first step to creating a quality product.

Acceptable Software Formats:
·        Adobe Illustrator / EPS CS2 12 or lower version - .ai or .eps
·        CorelDraw 11 or lower version - .cdr
Adobe Acrobat PDF files sometimes may be used, depending on how the original art was created.
Acceptable File Formats:

·        3.55” Floppy Disk
·        CDROM
 
Unacceptable Software / File Formats:
 
.jpg, .gif, .tiff, .bmp, .pdf, .qxd, Word Doc, .ppt (Power Point), .psd (Adobe Photoshop)
 
These file formats and other art formats such as:
Business cards, letterhead, photocopies, images copied from the internet, and other art that is not digital will need to be scanned and cleaned up or recreated, at a cost of $35.00. 
 
Before sending art files, please be sure to…
Convert art to outlines/curves/paths
Make sure your images are 600 dpi
Make sure that the graphic or text uses standard Pantone colors
 
Common problems with Art: 
 
1) Your company only has their logo in a .jpg format.  This may work for embroidery, but a .jpg is not a vectored file type.  For most promotional products a vectored file is required so that the logo can be enlarged or reduced without loss of quality and color separated.
 
Solution: Xpress Image’s Art Dept can recreate the logo at a cost of $35.00.
 
2) Your company or organization does not have an official logo or design.
 
Solution: Xpress Image’s Art Dept can create a logo or design at a cost of $35.00 per hour.
 
Raster Art- .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, web images & scans of business cards and etc.

 




Raster Art: is resolution dependent.  When you change the size you loose quality, either making the image fuzzy as on the left or pixilated as on the right, in addition you can not change or separate the colors.


Vector Art- Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Corel Draw (.cdr), & Adobe Illustrator EPS (.eps)

Vector Art: Digital art created with drawing software such as CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator is resolution independent.  When you change the size you DO NOT loose quality, and you have the ability to change and separate the colors as needed.
